Seventeen-year old Raley Schweinfurth thrilled audiences playing Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Portland Chamber Orchestra As a student of Dorothy Fahlman, she has been the principal pianist for the Portland Youth Philharmonic since 2014.
She also performs on the harpsichord, celesta, and pipe organ. Ms. Schweinfurth has participated in master classes with Hans Boepple, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Sasha Starcevich, Cecile Licad, Monica Huggett, Augustin Hadelich, Carlos Kalmar, Steven Tenebom, Ida Kavafian, Daniel Phillips, Jun Iwasaki, and Yekwon Sunwoo & the Dover Quartet. She has attended the Oberlin Conservatory’s Cooper Piano Festival, the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Piano Academy, and the Montecito International Music Festival. She also has received instruction at the Curtis Institute of Music.
A consummate artist, Ms. Schweinfurth has appeared in Michael Allen Harrison’s Ten Grands in Seattle and Portland, as well as other benefit concerts for the School of Piano Technology for the Blind and the Pacific Foundation for Blind Children. Her love for chamber music has led to performances with Portland Summer Ensembles, Portland Youth Philharmonic Camerata, and the Eastman School of Music. Ms. Schweinfurth has been a winner of the Trula Whelan Concerto Competition and a multiple winner of OMTA ensemble and period festivals She attends Oregon Episcopal School and enjoys aikido, archery, and painting.
