Tosca Opdam

Violin

Tosca received her master of music degree from The Juilliard School and her bachelor of music degree from the Manhattan School of Music, making her recital debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in June 2018.

Praised for her “enchanting musical personality,” the Dutch violinist won First Prize in the Oskar Back Violin Competition. Her performances have been lauded as “at times bold and regal, other times poignant and tender, at all times rendered gorgeously.”

Tosca designs programs that connect music to painting, dance, and other art forms. She presented a lecture recital with the Dutch National Ballet. In 2017 the Toscata Foundation was established in her name to promote classical music through education, violin pedagogy, collaborations with other artistic disciplines, and to champion and commission contemporary composers for performance in the Netherlands and beyond. Tosca plays a Matteo Gofriller violin from 1700, which is generously loaned by a private collector
