Dear Friends and Family of Siletz Bay Music Festival,
As we enter the season of thanks and giving, the board and staff of Siletz Bay Music Festival wish to express our heartfelt gratitude for your past support which is essential to our efforts in bringing the best in classical and contemporary chamber, orchestral and jazz concerts to our beautiful Central Coast. At the same time, we ask that you consider making a tax-deductible donation to Siletz Bay Music Festival before the year draws to a close.
Mounting a festival of this magnitude, with world-class musicians performing in multiple locations, is a costly undertaking. Ticket sales cover only 17% of our budget, making the community’s donations, sponsorships and ad sales crucial to our survival.
When the board met to assess this year’s festival and begin planning for 2025, all agreed that 2024 was a spectacular success. Presenting programming like “My Words Are My Sword,” and musicians like special guest Paquito D’Rivera, we proved to ourselves and to the world that the spirit of our late beloved founder, Yaki Bergman, truly lives on.
Looking ahead we are excited to announce that Mei-Ting Sun, who filled in last year in an interim capacity, has come on board as Siletz Bay Music Festival’s Artistic Director. The dates of the 2025 festival are August 14 – 24, beginning on a Thursday evening with a gala reception and Mei-Ting’s piano recital. We will bring you old favorites, some new surprises and always, the extraordinary level of virtuoso performance that you’ve come to expect. Stay tuned for details.
Producing this festival is a year-long endeavor. Within a week after the 2024 festival’s end, grant writing commenced, dates were set and venues secured for 2025. Pianos, piano tuner and technical needs were booked. The alchemy of crafting the program and musicians is currently in progress. It’s a lot of work, but all of this is the easy part. The more difficult part– the yearly challenge–comes as we work towards securing necessary funding to put all of these elements in place.
By donating to the Siletz Bay Music Festival, you are not just supporting a series of concerts; you are investing in the cultural fabric of our community. Your contribution ensures that we can continue to bring extraordinary cultural experiences to the Central Oregon Coast.
