MEET THE ARTISTS

Mimi Jung

Violinist Mimi Jung brings boundless creativity and determination to all her artistic pursuits, from performing in many of the world’s most prestigious violin competitions, such as the Queen Elisabeth international competition, to sharing her craft with her teaching studio. Recognition of her skill and her love for performing as a soloist has brought her to such renowned venues as the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Athenaeum Main Concert Hall in Bucharest, Romania. From 2018-2021, she served as assistant concertmaster of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra (Belgium). Currently, she resides in Los Angeles and pursues solo and chamber activities alongside teaching privately.

Most recently, she toured with Maastricht Academic Chamber Orchestra throughout the Netherlands as soloist and concertmaster, performing The Lark Ascending and leading Beethoven’s third symphony, Eroica. Upcoming engagements include guest teaching at Universidad del Cauca in Colombia, where she will lead an intensive project highlighting the two solo Bach violin concertos as well as the Double violin concerto. She is also scheduled to perform the Beethoven violin concerto with two Colombian orchestras, Orquesta Sinfónica EAFIT and Orquesta sinfónica de Caldas.

At the encouragement of her parents, Mimi started violin lessons at four-and-a-half with Mrs. Nan Kim in Los Angeles. After just a few years, her talents caught the attention of the well-known Italian violinist and LA Opera Concertmaster Roberto Cani, who would be her teacher for the next ten years. She graduated with college and university honors from Carnegie Mellon University for her bachelor’s degree under the guidance of Cyrus Forough, and received her master’s at Conservatorium Maastricht (Netherlands) with Yuzuko Horigome.

Her love for giving back to her local communities spurs her to bring music to people in hospitals, nursing homes, and retirement homes – people who need music in their lives more than ever.
